May 6, 2023 - 2023 NJAFP Family Physician of the Year Awarded to Dr. Robert Gorman. “Patients may see a series of specialists, from an orthopedist for a replaced knee to a cardiologist for the stent in their heart. But if you ask who their doctor is, they will name their family physician.” When Dr. Robert Gorman was in high school, he heard about the shortage of family doctors. The American Academy of Family Physicians had recently been established as a specialty to encourage more primary care physicians. He was intrigued; he was interested in the career and knew he had the scholastic aptitude. “It was a goal that I thought I could reach, and I really never looked back,” he says.

January 8, 2016 - New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians Receives Provisional ACCME Accreditation as a New Provider of Continuing Medical Education
The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP), the largest primary care medical specialty society in the state, has recently received its provisional accreditation as a provider of continuing medical education by the Accreditation Council for Continuing Medical Education (ACCME). ACCME accreditation means that the NJAFP can now certify educational activities for category 1 credit of the American Medical Association’s Physician’s Recognition Award (“AMA/PRA”). The AMA/PRA is utilized by state licensing boards and boards of medical specialties to re-license physicians and re-certify them in their areas of specialty.

December 15, 2015 - New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians Selected to Provide Practice Transformation Services in Delaware
The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP), the largest primary care medical specialty society in the state, was recently awarded a role as vendor for the Practice Transformation Services Project offered by the Delaware Center for Health Innovation (DCHI) as part of the Delaware State Innovation Model (SIM) grant. DCHI's main goals for this Project comprise better health, improved healthcare quality and patient experience, lower healthcare costs for all of Delaware's residents, and improved provider experience.
