Jeffrey A. Zlotnick, MD, (CAQ), FAAFP, DABFP Presented with the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians’ Chair Award


Trenton, NJ – The New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP) recently presented Jeffrey Zlotnick, MD, (CAQ), FAAFP, DABFP with the Chair Award at the NJAFP’s Annual Scientific Assembly in Atlantic City.

The NJAFP, the largest primary care medical specialty society in the state, is a leader in health care practice transformation and advocacy, advancing the specialty of family medicine and improving access to high quality health care for patients. The Chair Award, one of the most important recognitions presented annually, is awarded to a person who has dedicated a lifetime of service to both the Academy and the specialty of family medicine. NJAFP honored Dr. Zlotnick, a board-certified family physician with a background in primary care sports medicine, for his tireless commitment to family medicine and contributions to community health and the state of New Jersey.

Dr. Zlotnick has practiced family medicine for more than three decades and has extensive experience in both private practice and medical education. He currently serves as residency director of sports medicine education at Penn State Health / St. Joseph’s Family Medicine Residency in Reading, Pa.; as well as director of the sports medicine / concussion clinic at Penn State Health – St. Joseph’s and team sports medicine physician for Alvernia University. He has faculty appointments at Rutgers New Jersey Medical School, Robert Wood Johnson Medical School, University of New England College of Osteopathic Medicine and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

A past president of NJAFP, Dr. Zlotnick remains an active, participating member of the organization. Additionally, he serves as clinical director of the MedFest program, joint initiative of the Special Olympics of New Jersey (SONJ) and NJAFP, which Dr. Zlotnick helped develop and implement. In 2015, Dr. Zlotnick was inducted into the SONJ Hall of Fame for his 20 years of service to the organization and advancement of the Special Olympics movement, especially through his pioneering of MedFest, which helps eliminate barriers for Special Olympics pre-participation exams.

In addition to his work with SONJ and MedFest, Dr. Zlotnick has supported a number of schools and community service organizations, including the U.S. Division of Special Olympics International, Multiple Sclerosis Society of NJ, United Way and Big Brothers Big Sisters. He is also is a nationally recognized lecturer speaking on various sports medicine topics at the AAFP Annual Assembly, the NCFMR/S and many state conferences.

Dr. Zlotnick earned his medical degree from the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey and bachelor’s degree from the Philadelphia College of Pharmacy and Science. He completed his family medicine residency at Franklin Square Hospital in Baltimore and earned his CAQ certification in sports medicine.
