New Jersey Senate Honors Dr. Jeffrey P. Levine for Dedication to Women's Health During World Menopause Awareness Month
In honor of World Menopause Awareness Month, New Jersey Senate President Nicholas Scutari and the New Jersey Senate recognized Dr. Jeffrey P. Levine, M.D., MPH, an esteemed professor and advocate for women's health. Dr. Levine, a highly respected member of the New Jersey Academy of Family Physicians (NJAFP), serves as Professor and Director of Reproductive & Gender Health Programs in the Department of Family Medicine and Community Health, as well as Professor in the Department of Obstetrics, Gynecology, and Reproductive Sciences at Rutgers Robert Wood Johnson Medical School. Dr. Levine has devoted his career to advancing women’s health, earning national recognition for his work in menopausal symptom management, osteoporosis, and unintended pregnancy prevention.
The NJAFP commends Dr. Levine on his dedication to women's health research and education and expresses gratitude to the New Jersey Senate for acknowledging the essential contributions of family medicine professionals to the state and beyond.
The Senate Resolution presented by Senate President Scutari and co-sponsored by all members highlights Dr. Levine's achievements in women's health, noting his pivotal role in clinical research and his invaluable contributions to medical education. Notably, Dr. Levine co-authored The Menopause Transition: Optimally Protecting Emotional Health, a comprehensive, evidence-based publication designed to guide primary care clinicians in managing menopausal symptoms. This continuing medical education resource, produced by NJAFP, addresses clinical assessment, treatment options, and individualized management plans for menopausal women, bolstering the knowledge base and care strategies of healthcare providers.
Among his many accolades, Dr. Levine is a recipient of the Leonard Tow Humanism in Medicine Award and was named a Master Educator at the University of Medicine and Dentistry of New Jersey (UMDNJ). These honors reflect his commitment to clinical excellence, compassion, and respect for his patients, colleagues, and community.
The resolution recognizes Dr. Levine as a model of dedication and excellence, with President Scutari noting that, “The strength and success of New Jersey depend upon individuals like Dr. Levine, whose empathy, expertise, and service benefit women, families, and healthcare professionals across our state and nation.”
